Outside Decorating aka The Haunting of Home

Every year a haunted grave yard magically appears in my front beds after hours of me slaving that is, LOL! This is the house so far. The porch is not finished and the non of the lighting is done.

The House so far.

My newest ghoul! He is HUGE. Jim had to put a new hook up for me.

Very good start to the porch! The coffin has to come down, and I have a few more ghouls up my sleeves!

Movie Review

Thursday night was ladies night out! WOO HOO! In other words cocktails and a movie with my clique of friends. We went to Friday's. They make a nice cocktail there and the appetizers aren't bad. I had the pot stickers they were yummy. I wish I could say the same thing about the movie...

We went to see The Women. It's a remake of a 1930's film. It just didn't translate well to 2008. Way too cliche of a premise and the "sex in the city" spin they put on it wasn't good. Wait for the DVD or it to come on HBO. I see as a Lifetime movie in a year or two. Too bad it had such a great cast too bad the script and story just wasn't there. There were some funny parts. Some good one liners. Some really bad plastic surgery was on display, YIKES! I think there is something to be said for growing old gracefully....

We had fun though always nice to go out with the girls!

Attic Adventures

I must say going up to the attic is not my favorite thing. But a necessary evil if I want my decorations. Not enough storage on the living levels. I am hoping to maybe clear out a space in the garage, to store at least the out side Halloween decorations. It's going to be a job and a half! YUCK! But If I do it I won't have to brave the attic expedition. I'm always afraid I'm going to fall through the ceiling. We have two inch particle board tacked down up there so you can walk. I once stepped on a small piece of scrap the builder used, the darn thing snapped and caved. The humidity got it I'm sure, but it makes me very wary of all of it now. Plus you have to walk all bent over half the time to get from one side to the other. I need to see the chiropractor after getting down from there. Not to mention the dust, and a spider or two. Eew!

At least I have some storage area. It is amazing to me how much junk is up there after only 4 years. It needs re-organized, and the junk thrown away.... I'll get to it probably just before Hell freezes over....ROFL!

Off and Running! Totally insane & loving it!

Yesterday, I started putting up my Halloween decorations (YES, I know it is still September). I had good reason to start I have Bunco this month. It was supposed to be Oct 9th BUT that is in the middle of our Fall Break from school. Several people are going on trips so the group was voting on it being either Oct 2nd or 16th. Well the 2nd is just next week! So I figured if I get the outside done at least less work for next week. Most of the tombstones for the "Cemetery" are up in my front beds now. My skull wreath is on the front door. I fixed my Cemetery sign. It needed a string and all the fabric stuff off the bottom had worn off through the years and I replaces it. Good as NEW! Thankfully Bunco will be on the 16th, so now I'll have plenty of time to finish my decorating inside and out. Still a lot to do outdoors. All the ghouls need to be put in place and the lighting.

I'm looking forward to using all my new stuff I've gathered all year long. I've found some really cool things that aren't necessarily meant for Halloween. It's been a blast! I dug out all the stuff I bought after Halloween last year. Those coffin party favors are so ghoulishly cute! I found some "bone" shaped sweet tarts to put in them.

Awe....Life is good! ROFL!

My Tiger!

This whole week is home coming for the middle school, so everyday they have a different spirit celebration. This is Katie's "crazy" hair.

This was a big production trying to find the right colors. They HAD to be the school colors. No pink , green, red, etc. Only yellow, gold, white or black. Thank you Kmart's Halloween section!

Katie said that some of her friends put her up as homecoming queen nominee for their mini school as joke, but she didn't win. She added "thank God". The thought of having to be in front of the whole school freaked her out. Still a bit shy... Even in tiger hair! LOL!

3 and O Titans!

Longest pick for a run back in franchise history !

Albert is just a beast!

WOO HOO! doing the happy dance! Best start since 1999 when the Titans went to the Superbowl. Hopefully this is sign of good things to come. I'm cautiously optimistic for this season. Heck the Dolphins handed it to the Pats. GO FISH! so anything is possible...

Last Bit of Summer

Soon this will have to be put in the garage for the winter season. Just a bit too cold for banana trees in Middle Tennessee. This morning it was in the high 50's.
Guess laying by the pool soaking in the sun is rapidly going to be a thing of the past till spring again in 2009... SNIFF! SNIFF! SOB!

BUT this means HALLOWEEN is just around the corner! Greatly decreased electric bills for a time... Though this year they are raising the rates by 20% so hope of cash staying in our pockets is pretty much a pipe dream...

I went out to have my coffee and didn't realize we had company! so I ran in and got the camera!

Only bad thing is they left turkey poop all over by the pool. YUCK!

Pineapple Upside Down Biscuits Morning!

YUM! This is the easiest Sunday morning treat!

One 10 can of crush pineapple, drain reserve the liquid
Marciano cherries
1/2 brown sugar packed
1/4 of a stick soften butter
1 can of biscuits

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
Grease cupcake tin
Put one cherry in each cupcake area
Mix the brown sugar, butter, and pineapple together.
Put in cups on top of cherries
Place biscuits on top
Pour reserve liquid over the biscuits.
Bake in oven 10 to 15 minutes
Flip over a cookie sheet press to cupcake tin.

I make this for morning tailgates. I made this morning to recover from the horrorific Ohio State loss... At least Vandy and UT came through for me! LOL!

Halloween Shopping!

Last year my beloved gargoyle was stolen off my mailbox (sniff). BUT never fear I found an AWESOME replacement this year at Marshall's. He it HUGE! I love him. I've name him Seamore. He looks like a Seamore doesn't he?

I found these at the Dollar Tree for booze & wine bottles & two litter bottles for the kid's party. How FUN! for a BUCK! I thought they might be a cool add on to scrapbook pages too...

Seamore with friends! I found these crows at the Dollar Tree too! I've seen crows in other stores for MUCH more $$$

I've surprisingly, well to me any way found a lot of wedding themed stuff. Much to my delight I might add. this theme is easier than I thought at first.

I've been looking for this cand mold forever! thank you Walmart for finally having it!

I also found gummy skulls, rats, and bones to help me decorate my "wedding cake"
I bought little skulls to hold up the cake between the layers.

I'M SO JAZZED! this should be FUN!

I'm trying to finish Courtney's Australia album from last summer. I got a bit bored with it, and ran out of cool ideas. But now I'm going to try to finish it off before Courtney forgets what happened!

Happy Monday!

Courtney & Jesse

We all had a very nice weekend. Courtney & company went to the Tennessee State Fair yesterday. I can't wait to see the pictures they took.

Of course Jim and I went to the Titans game. Titans WON! They are Number 1 in AFC south by virtue of them being the only one to win. WOO HOO! Vince Young hurt his knee. Not BIG news like Tom Brady, and not as serious hopefully.

Katie had her friends over night Friday and of course we went shopping. She was the only one to just hang out and relax yesterday.

I made the curry chicken with peanut sauce, YUM that is so good! The peanut sauce is so EASY!

coconut milk 14 oz can
2 to 3 Tablespoons peanuts butter
juice of one lime
2 Tablespoons brown sugar

Heat to simmer stir for 5 minutes. Can be eaten hot or cold

the curry paste I got from the international market. just mixed with olive oil and tossed chicken chunks and let marinade for about an hour. Put on skewers and grill 3minutes a side. i'm drooling just writing this....it just that good!

WOO HOO! Titans WON!

I'm so glad they did because we roasted up there in our nose bleed seats. BUT the WIN made it all worth it! ROFL!

We had a pretty good time. We wound up tailgating with Jackie and Ray though we didn't plan to do it. It was kind of nice letting someone else do ALL the work. wonder if I can get away with it the rest of the season....ROFL!

NBC gets my put-a-sock-in-it award for not showing one high-light of the Jaguar VS Titan game during the Sunday night show. Titans' defense really deserved some highlights.

Shopping Fools

Katie made the request to go to Green Hills Mall last week with her girlfriends. It's the Hoyt Toity mall in Nashville. Well, they wisely decided that Stones River was good enough, and their money would go a lot further. SMART GIRLS. Big sales are on right now getting rid of the summer items. Since it is pretty hot here till at least mid October summer type clothing is just fine. They had a blast I should have brought my camera, DRAT! We all had a very nice lunch at Olive Garden, YUM! Then we went to Kohl's. 80% off sales!!! The light lace Cammi type shirt were all $2.99. The girls layer those under EVERYTHING. I spent $115 and we got 15 items.
GOOD SHOPPERS! ROFL! I bought stuff for Courtney. A few things will have to go back that didn't fit right. Over all a productive day! I even got an out fit I think I'm going to wear to the Titans game tomorrow. It's going to be way to HOT for a Jersey...

Woo Hoo! that means the sprinkler system can be shut off. We had a $370 water bill between the sprinklers and the pool leak... With the lovely $350 electric bill we're going fast to the poor house! I'm thinking candle light might be nice...

We've got wild turkeys running around the back yard, well the farm field behind us. The cats are watching them. Forget it! They are BIGGER than you! Tiger once tried to catch one. Oh was that funny it was still a chick but bigger than him. I wish I had it on tape! i could have sent that in to AFV and won....

Well, I'm counting my blessings today...So glad it rained! NO HEADACHE!

1, 2, 3, CONTACT!

Today was Katie's appointment to see the optometrist. She said she wanted contacts once again....for the people in the cheap seats.... OMG! We went through this before, lots of tears and drama... She just wasn't ready.

Well, this time not so much drama as before, at least not yet that I know of for sure. She put them in her eyes and took them out. She put them back in again! She wore them to school. She took her glasses with her just in case... But she was saying that, "They won't let me go to the bathroom to take them out." I would hope that if she needs to take them out her teachers aren't stupid sadist and will let her. Especially since I just got her progress report. They all wrote either good student, or well behaved student in the box provided. So why not let her go to the restroom?

I was supposed to go to a matinee with Sunnette to see TROPIC THUNDER. But I have a stupid headache all day, so I canceled. I want to really enjoy it. So I cleaned house instead. I figured I was already miserable.... LOL!

Tonight is the first Middle School dance. I'm sure there will be drama picking out an outfit and getting the hair done... I hope they do more than just walk around the gym like the 6th grade dance. I wonder if Katie's new crush, Seth, will be there tonight. She saw him at church last night. She stocked the poor boy! Scoping out where he was going, and followed him. She actually talked a bit to him. AMAZING! Her description of the conversation was priceless!

She said, " your that dude from school."

He said, " your that chic from school."

Then she ask if it was the drink line.

he told her "no" it was the shirt line and pointed to the drink line.

She was totally pumped. I was trying hard not to laugh out loud... I'm such a rotten mom....
