Butterfly

Well, this year was my butterfly B-day!
Very cool ornament for my garden or wall (not sure at this point where it will make it's home) that my MIL sent for my B-day. It is quite large, you can't tell by the photo. I'll have fun placing it!

Snow Day without snow...

the girls got what they wanted a SNOW DAY but something is missing the SNOW! they just threaten the white stuff or the dreaded ice and BINGO no school. Being from North Eastern Ohio I find ths totally insane. We'd go to school with 2 feet on the ground.
I got to scrap yesterday. This is the result. I'm totally lovely my sizzlet butterfly! I think JoBeth bought it for me in a secret pal swap. So thank you, thank you, thank you! I adore it!

Coconut Creme pie & Other Good Things

My first attempt at making a coconut creme pie! I've made many a pie but never my favorite isn't that goofy? there are so many coconut creme pie recipes on the web. I chose one to try. I tasted the coconut mixture when I was filling the pie. I think we have winning recipe! But I think we may have to try some of the other any way just to be fair...LOL!

Here is the recipe

INGREDIENTS
3 cups half-and-half
2 eggs
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup flaked coconut, toasted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (9 inch) pie shell, baked
1 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed
(I did add about 1/2 teaspoon coconut flavoring and a bit more coconut than they called for)

DIRECTIONS
In a medium saucepan, combine half-and-half, eggs, sugar, flour and salt. Bring to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and stir in 3/4 cup of the coconut and the vanilla extract. Pour into pie shell and chill 2 to 4 hours, or until firm.

Top with whipped topping, and with remaining 1/4 cup of coconut.

Note: To toast coconut, spread it in an ungreased pan and bake in a 350 degree F (175 degrees C) oven for 5 to 7 minutes, or until golden brown, stirring occasionally.

Courtney got her official letter in the mail today that she has been accepted to UT Martins Govenor's school full scholarship! That 6 college credits we won't have to pay for WOO HOO! We are very proud of her!

I got to go out to lunch with Debra. Sushi! YUM! I also got to open my gift. She made me a lovely album! I'll have to take pics and share.

I got to scrap a bit today too...guess 2009 doesn't completely suck....ROFL!

Ready, Set, Here She BLOWS!

What fire hazzard!

OK Let them eat CAKE...BUT ME FIRST! Yummy chocolate mint ice cream cake. My husband rocks!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Right after Christmas when the big sales were going on I spied this in the jewlery case at Dillards orginally $700 white & rose gold considerably reduced. I looked at it and walked away. Then I looked at again... this time I texted Jim about the gorgeous butterfly necklace. He texted back Happy Birthday! BUY IT.

Well my plans are changing for the day... Both of my girls are ill. It looks like strep throat or sinus infections. We'll be going to the walk-in clinic shortly.
I think my lunch plans and facial are toast... Oh well another day.

Be Silly!

After all the drama around here lately some silliness is totally required. I'm not sure how I'm going to manage it, but it MUST happen.

Poison Pen

Some times I just don't want to go to the mailbox. Funny because when I was a kid I LOVED the mail especially around my birthday... not so much any more... The endless junk mail, and bills usually make it an unpleasant chore. Every once in while there is something nice even wonderful in the mail, so that keeps me going out to get the mail.

Yesterday, I got a letter from someone I didn't know. It read Connie Jones from Antioch on the envelop. I open it, read it. It proceeded to say that my husband was cheating on me and if I wanted proof to go to this email address at yahoo. OK first of all if my husband had the time to have an affair I'd be shocked and totally amazed at his time management and energy. He is either at work or with me doing something. He is in constant contact with me via the cell phone either on it or texting. Not really too worried about my husband cheating.

The address is bogus as the name is.... I figure it is one of those Internet scams
if I went to the email address they'd ask for money for the incriminating photos. It ask for my cell phone number to send the pics to it. I'm sure scam artists can use that for something...

Some people just SUCK. Keep your slime to yourself you piece of garbage scam artist. Guess I've put way too much information on my blog...that genie is out of the bottle.... What is really scary and creepy is this person has our names and address. FRIGHTENING!

Two new chores added to my day go to post office and turn letter over to fruad dept and warn yahoo of abuse of their email system.

So just be warned of this scam.

BUT I LIKE WHINING....

I GET A LOT OF ATTENTION....ROFL! Seriously there is something to being "the squeaky wheel" they DO getting all the grease! Wouldn't make it a habit because sooner or later the grease is all gone and the wheel gets replaced if it still annoying... You need to mix it up! If you are always a people pleaser they walk all over you, but if you don't please someone some time eventually you get left out! Finding the balance is a handy little skill? trick? nack? Whatever!

Back to Halloween!

2008 Boo-ffet Ghoulmet Feast

Starting to plan next years party. I think I may enlist my niece to make Smilodon head dresses for Jim and I. (Saber tooth tiger heads dresses) for stone age shamans (witch doctors). It should go sort with my haunted hospital/lab/ apothecary theme... any way it is medical sort of LOL! Be totally AWESOME for the Predators!

Change

I read a post at Two Peas today that surprised me a bit. http://simplescrapbooks.typepad.com/ Simple Scrapbooks is folding. Ironic that that was the last magazine I was published in, at least to me it is. I'm a dinosaur. Seems like there has been a lot of changes since 2004 and most of them I haven't liked much in the scrapbooking. I think a lot of it turns people off. Here are my pet peeves...for what it is worth...

Everything has to be the latest and greatest....WHY? to SELL, SELL, SELL. I really hate this about scrapbooking now. Feels like one big info-mercial....YUCK!

I have to say I really just don't get putting birds, deer and owls on everything. Now I have put owls on a layout but it had to do with the title "WHO ARE YOU". I have birds on some of my pages too but they had to do with Earth Day and the out doors. They go with the theme, not just plopped there... hey I'm not telling anyone not to do it I just don't understand it... I like embellishments that help tell the story not compete with it.

I don't really like pages with one tiny picture on it and a TON of embellishment. More like an art project than a scrapbook page. Again a matter of taste...

I don't like pages that have few tiny pictures and the rest of the page is blank. I tried. I even made a few pages that way... Hate'em. I just don't get it...

Pages with thinks like buttons glued all over them. They look like a kindergartens
art project. The Love Elsie stuff YUCK! Sorry I loved and treasured my girls art projects with macaroni and beads when they were 5, an adult doing it seems a tad pathetic... Again I just don't get it...

As I said I'm a dinosaur. I don't get most modern art either or most rap, or tattoos
all a matter of taste.... Everyone has an opinion they are just like a**holes everyone has one.... LOL!

Mourning period over...

My Titans let me down... they lost to the RAVENS... I just threw up a little in my mouth. I guess I'm still really in shock. Out played them every where but the score board... Stupid turn overs...
The seats we had were nice close enough with the "little" camera to get some shots.

Jim & I Hamming it up
Phil & Leslie

I guess there is always next year...

FROZEN

IT IS COLD HERE! Not liking this weather at all, I'm thinking moving further south is a good thing at this point...

Frozen in other ways right now too. I wish I could learn new technology. The more I try I just get totally frustrated. I still haven't straightened out the Ipod fiasco from last Christmas. It seems every time I try to work with it I wind up in tears. I'm going to try again today. Wish me luck!

Hip-Hip-Hurray!

Things I'm thankful for!!!

Steve Sullivan is back finally for the Predators, and he looks good!

I'm back to scrapping! I thought these pictures of Katie were so adorable! i maybe a tad bias...

It looks like I'm over the hump for this stupid bug. No more chills, no more fever, a bit of drainage but I can handle that!

I think I'm going to make a pumpkin pie for dinner dessert.

I'm going to plan the perfect birthday for ME! Debra all ready got me a maid for the day at Christmas. I'm going to book a facial or some pampering treatment. Maybe a lunch date.

I'm totally thankful for it all!

GO TITANS GO!

OK I really just don't quite get sports annalists at all. It seems like they all think the dirty Birds aka the Ravens are going to win this play off game. WHY? Titans lost one game at home all season. Titans beat Ravens already once this year. Slacked thier rookie QB several times and picked him off a feat that the Ravens were unable to do to Kerry Collins during their last meeting. But yet the team with the best record in the NFL is the supposed underdog...

I guess it doesn't really matter what is said it is what is done today on the playing field....SO....

GO TITANS GO!

Shadow box for the "Man Cave"

Or maybe I should say sports cave? shrine? This is all the memorabilia from the October 30, 2008 game when we placed 3rd in the costume contest. They had Halloween pucks at the charity auction tables. we have one of them, the program, our tickets, pictures of us in our seats (taken be a Edmonton fan no less), picture of us with the other contestants. All that is missing is a a 3rd place sign of some kind... We just got a bag with goodies and envie with the gas card in it... I may find and add a third place ribbon just to tell the store better.

FOUND!!!!

Martin Erat
The PREDATORS found their offense last night! WOO HOO! I must admit I had little faith when they were down 3 to zip. I got a glimmer of hope when Martin Erat scored that very cool rebound chip shot. Then they really started to turn it on 5 unanswered goals! AWESOME!

Jim said he has lost most of his crud, but I've found it. I'm not feeling well at all. This sucks because tomorrow is the Raven vs Titans play off game. It is supposed to be windy, rainy and COLD. Thankfully Jim's boss has graciously bought us and Phil & Leslie club seats, that means if I'm freezing we going inside. No NOSE BLEED SEATS FOR US! We just have to get rid of our seats. Don't think there will be too much problem doing that... I wonder though if my "hat" is going to be appropriate for club level....ROFL!

Getting Ready for the Play-offs!

This layout is from this seasons Monday Night Game us all in our blue tees for Code Blue
If you would have ask me if the Titans would even make the play-offs this year before the season started I probably would have given a negative answer. I didn't have much faith in Vince Young as it turns out neither did his team. Benching him probably made the season what it is so far. being the top seat in the AFC heck having the best record in football this year. WOW! I'm extremely excited about the play-offs. It has been a while since we had one at home! I think will have two! and on the the Superbowl!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY!

OMG! You are getting SO old! ROFL! Dang 49!

Happy New Year?

So far I'm not so hot on it... sick hubby to start it, Preds are sucking, Ohio State lost again! We got a court date for the Simply Southern fiasco (at least it will be over!) so far sleeping through 2009 seems VERY appealing...

Titans better come through and win the Super Bowl!
